R. U. T.

Say it with me now:

RUT

I'm in a rut.

Writing. Photography. Whatever. Anything creative.

It's so frustrating. I open my blog to write something. Anything. And there's nothing there. It's not as if I have no life or anything. But it's all so . . . ordinary, so daily.

Thanksgiving was wonderful. Playing games with my family is always loads of fun. We've played cards with my parents a couple times recently - Liverpool Rummy. It's what we always play when we play cards. Also a lot of fun.

Homeschool is rolling along. Never quite as well as I want, but we're plugging away. We do as much as possible upstairs in the studio because the dining room is too cold most days.

I've learned how to play Angry Birds. I probably shouldn't have. I'm playing in between writing this.

I'm in a big dinner funk, too. Tired of the same old stuff. No ideas for anything new. Working with a partially picky family doesn't help.

I have a couple of sewing projects that I need to work on. I've started, but I need to do more. Things for which I've been commissioned to make. Kind of cool.

We went to a Christmas party at some friends' house Friday night. It was fun and lovely and yummy.

I shopped at the mall yesterday! Amazing, but true. I'm so not a mall girl. But Borders is at the mall and it kind of took off from there. Surprisingly, the worst of it was the parking lot. Inside was busy, but not terrible. I'm a little ahead of the game this year with shopping. Which is nice.

I bought Christmas cards the other day. Now I need to do the rest. So far they haven't opened themselves, addressed themselves, put themselves in envelopes, stamped themselves, nor mailed themselves. I guess it's all up to me.

I'm up too late and should be going to bed. Ha! Ha! Famous last words. I also messed up my atomic clock and now I can't get it back on Mountain Time. It's on Pacific Time. So I guess if I go by THAT clock, it's not so bad. Until morning anyway. Then I may oversleep.

I have no desire to have a Kindle or Nook or any others, but I am enjoying reading books on the iPod Touch. Weird, huh? When I'm not playing Angry Birds.

Mothers of two of my friends died this week. One was expected, the other not. It was a very heavy day. I also talked for awhile with another friend who's having some HUGE trials in life. Even heavier day.

When the eye doctor tells you that your near vision will start to go after you turn 40, she's not lying. Even if it's not immediately after 40. Apparently, it's inevitable. So much for thinking I'd be the anomaly. I'm trying new contacts and they improved the near vision, but compromised what I have in far correction. Sigh. I'm hoping I can keep the near vision, but improve the far vision. If not, I'm not happy with any of the options.

And, for no particular reason, here's a picture of the Comedian a few years back at a Junior High Christmas party at church, taking a swing at his dad.

big gloves

And I'm off to bed. Maybe sleep will refresh the creative muse. If not, at least I'm not looking at last week's Wordless Wednesday anymore. LOL!

Yes, I can relate to the 'partially picky' family when it comes to cooking! Mine was too...imagine that!
I have my cards too, but so far nothing has happened except Dad getting after me that I better get the cards done...he does that every year! I DO have stamps too but nothing else is done with them...I DID get the apples in the dehydrator this afternoon! Yay! That's something I've wanted to do for a couple of weeks!
Have a good evening.
Love,
mom
