Wednesday Happenings

Wordless Wednesday is over at my photoblog today. I put up some shots of my mom's amazingly tall and beautiful hollyhocks. Spent part of the day at the Online Homeschool Conference, part at the miniature golf course in the heat, and frittered the rest away. I think the heat just melts some of my synapses together. Some days are just like that.

If you're a fan of Elisabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy, you'll want to check out Dawn's totally awesome bloggy giveaway. Although I personally want to win myself. But I'll be happy for you if you win. A little jealous, but happy nonetheless.

BlogHop 08 Winner

Sorry to be so brief and late (or late and brief, chronologically speaking), but I do have a winner for the BlogHop 08 mystery prize:

Kim at Rainy Day Diamonds is the winner of my four good things giveaway. Now, she doesn't know that she won. So unless she shows up over here before I email her, it will remain unknown.

I also don't have pix yet to post of the good things. But I will. Today's nap (and I NEVER take naps) consumed a useful part of my day. Off to my sister's for her birthday, so it's looking like tomorrow. Then I can email Kim, post photos, and mail goodies to her.

Twisted Silver Jewelry Giveaway

Dawn at My Home Sweet Home is hosting an awesome jewelry giveaway this week. Click on the image for your chance to win a pair of those beautiful earrings!

I was just over at Twisted Silver perusing the goods and they are funky, fun, and gorgeous! In addition to the contest, there are a couple of coupons available at Dawn's place, if you'd like to purchase some Twisted Silver of your own. Maybe you'd like to start some early Christmas shopping. Maybe you'd like to send something to me. Or maybe not so much.

And the Winner is . . .

Terri, with her compelling "I need to lose weight in 2008." I'm with you, Terri! Maybe this will be the year. After all, we have a motto now!

The balance of the creativity went like this:

Wondering who'll gestate in 2008.
- Dawn
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For 2008
I'll not procrastinate.
Is it the 12th already?
Oh, Rats! Too late.
- Cindy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Concerned about your fate?
Don't wait until it's too late.
Trust in God in 2008!

P.S. See you at the pearly gate.
- Jo
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Brevity" would be great for 2008.
- Mom
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I need time to create in 2008.
- Terri
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For her motto-writing efforts, Terri is the proud winner of this book:
1.31.2008
Last Chance
For anyone who might happen to drop by tonight, you still have a little more time to join in the fun. You could win this book just by submitting a unique and interesting little ditty . . . er, motto . . . or whatever you want to call it. Go here for the details. We'll be drawing the winner's name in the morning.
Don't hesitate
To win in 2008
Ready for a Contest?
We've begun a year that has a great rhyming number at the end - EIGHT. Have you noticed how many sayings are already being generated? The list of words to rhyme with eight is . . . well, GREAT!
I thought I'd start a collection of these quirky little mottos. So if you come across any, feel free to add them to the comments. What the heck? Make up some of your own. Something motivational, encouraging, or just downright silly.
Hmm . . . sounds like the makings of a contest to me.
Between now and January 31, submit your interesting, funny, off-the-wall, (insert your own adjective here) 2008 motto. Yes, it has to rhyme. For example, in the realm of fishing,
Try some new bait in 2008
or perhaps you're prone to mumbling,
I will enunciate in 2008
The only other issue is that it must be family-friendly (ie; no cussing, potty-mouthed stuff). My kids read my blog. Enough said.
Oh, I guess if it's a contest, there should be a prize of some sort. Since I'm all about humor, I think a little Brevity is in order.
The winner of the contest will receive the aforementioned pictured book.
Please submit your entry (feel free to enter more than once) via the comments by 12:00 midnight on Thursday, January 31, 2008. My immediate family (hubs & sons) will judge the entries to determine the winner. If it's just too hard, we'll utilize the Random Number Generator.
Get those pencils sharpened and have some fun!
Soup's On . . . Friday
Since I've been involved in stuff at the HSBA, tending to a son with a sinus infection, and working on Christmas cards, santa stars, and paper stars, I've fairly well neglected the rest of my favorite blogs (sniff, sniff!). But things have quieted down a bit, so I'm off visiting again. Also hoping to get something posted here more than a Wordless Wednesday and one other post per week.
So I'm out socializing perusing and commenting with folks like:
Carrie who graciously shared her most recent find treasure on her archaeological dig from the tub of eighties stuff. If you're feeling like a little time travel back to big hair and tight spandex, go take a look.
Barb who is honest-to-goodness the craft queen of the blogosphere, no make that the world! I could never accomplish so much - my fingers go numb. But I can marvel at her handiwork.
And then . . . I was over seeing what's up at BooMama's place when I discovered that she's hosting . . .
get this . . .
I can hardly wait . . .
for THIS:
It's A Soup-Tacular!
So guess what I'll be doing on Friday? Making soup. Yes indeedy. I'll probably even throw in some homemade garlic breadsticks or cornbread, too (depends upon the soup). Now, if I were Barb or BooMama, I'd actually take step-by-step photos and post them here with a complete tutorial for your viewing and duplicating pleasure. But last I checked, I'm not the craft queen of the world, nor am I just the funniest southern gal around. But I can handle the posting of a recipe.
btw - isn't that BooMama just the cleverest when it comes to making up a motto? "...because it's cold y'all!" You SO rock, BooMama! Thanks for letting me play.
If you need to shake things up in the soup departments (certainly not literally, or it might look a bit like Mom's gravy thickener flying around the kitchen - but that's a story for another day), check out BooMama's Souptacular on Friday!
Oh oh oh . . . I can't believe I nearly forgot! I sauntered out to pick up the mail today and surprise, surprise! I had a book AND a bag of Jelly Bellies! I won them over at A Peek At My Bookshelf, courtesy of sweet Deena. The timing couldn't have been better - I'm fresh out of a novel to read. I not only have a new book, I have Jelly Bellies that I understand are integral to the story. Thanks, Deena!!
Sprittibee & Kodak Printer Giveaway
Just call me Last Minute Lucy or Procrastinating Paula (apologies if your name really is Lucy or Paula). But here it is, my entry into the Fall Five Kodak Printer Give-Away at Sprittibee's Blog. Kodak & Sprittibee are giving away an EasyShare 5300 Printer!!
It would be so awesome to have a printer with reasonably priced (cheap, even) ink! We go through so much ink around here, between homeschooling, photographs, the newsletter, scrapbooking, and everything else. The odds are good but the other entries are great. So we'll see. :D
Fall Five Kodak Printer Give Away
There really are a lot of fun contests out in the blogosphere. This week, my sweet friend, Sprittibee is hosting an opportunity to win a Kodak EasyShare 5300 all-in-one printer. This is one of those really cool machines that have CHEAP INK! Yes, you heard that right, CHEAP INK!! The black cartridges are $9.99 and the color are $14.99! What a concept!! Sprittibee has one on her desk and says that it rocks.
Since it's such a big and cool prize, there is a little more to this than just leaving a comment. You have to actually get out and take some pictures, post your projects, and link back to the contest. Check it out quickly - there are only 2 weeks to complete your assignment.
We are SO in! I think the boys & I will have fun, fun, fun with this one!
9.23.2007
Hooray!
I won a CD over at Boo Mama's place! It's the new Shane & Shane CD called "Pages." You can click on the link to hear some samples of their music. Enjoy!
Yippeeeeee!!!!! Thanks, Boo Mama!!
Write Away Contest
I'm just squeezing in at the last minute on this one. Probably because I just discovered it. Anyway, Michelle over at Scribbit is hosting a Write Away contest. The September edition is about learning.
For me, it was about learning to see things from God's perspective. I submitted my post about the Big Log and its continuation. I sometimes need a refresher course, but I hope that they're fewer and farther between.
While it may be a little late to enter this contest, you can certainly check back in with Michelle on Friday to find out who won and read what I'm sure will be some good entries on learning. While you're there, be sure to check out her adorable handbags.
Wireless Fun
The sweet ladies over at 5 Minutes for Mom are having another really cool giveaway! This one is for the Rocketfish Wireless Multimedia Bluetooth Keyboard and Laser Mouse. Yep, it's a mouthfull, but boy howdy, would it make my life easier! My mouse is forever fighting against me as its cord gets hung up in the keyboard drawer (where it attaches to the desk), which is SO frustrating!
This sleek, slim-design wireless keyboard and mouse combination lets you leave behind the wires while you surf the web without compromising performance.
It even acts as a Bluetooth hub so that you can transfer files to other Bluetooth devices (such as your digital photo printer).
How great would that be? In a very techno sort of way. I'd love to win this, but if I don't, maybe you will. So go sign up. While you're there, check out some of the other great articles. These ladies have a great site.
Wheee - More Contest Fun
Beings that I am a crazy scrapbooking woman, I had to jump on board with this one (last minute jumper, but I'm hanging on, nonetheless).
I just met a blogfriend named k8 and she's having a big ol' scrapbook contest. Have you ever seen her blog? Check it out here - it's full of all kinds of monkey, scrappy coolness. And if you're quick, you might be able to jump on board the contest train too.
8.29.2007
Digital Camera Give-Away
I knew there was a reason my blog is called Bunny Trails. It's because I spend so much time on them. Last night, I was blog hopping and ended out at a stay-at-home-dad's blog (I really have no idea how I got there, which is usually my response when found on aforementioned trails). Anyway, the guy does web design, search engine marketing, and takes care of his cute little girl, Alex.
Because most blogs I read are authored by women, it's kind of fun to hear a dad's POV. You can check Mike out at Stay At Home Dad, Geek Style.
He also happens to be hosting a very awesome contest. He's giving away a Canon PowerShot SD750. It’s a sweet camera, complete with 7.1 megapixels and a giant 3″ LCD display. You can find out more about it at Stay At Home Dad Digital Camera Give-Away. You have to sign up by tomorrow (8/31) at 11:59 p.m. (he's in Florida).
It would be fantastic to win this (or even one of the runner-up prizes at Smug Mug). So personally, I'm hoping I win. But if not, I hope you do.
7.30.2007
And Yet Another Contest
Okay, not that I'm just a huge contest junkie, but because I wanted to enter this contest (I AM a magazine junkie!), one of the requirements is that I post this on my own blog. So here it is. Head on over to Robinznest if you'd like a chance to win a year's magazine subcription. If I win, I might have to do my own random drawing since the magazines Robin's giving away are all good!
I think this will be the last contest post for awhile. Time to get back to some regularly scheduled programming.
7.29.2007
A Bigger & Better Contest
The blogging world is just a remarkable place. There's a rocking contest at 5 Minutes for Mom where someone will win an Insignia® 37″ Flat-Panel LCD HDTV!!!
Of course, I'd love to win it, but you, too, can join in the frenzy by heading over here. This incredible prize is valued at $799.99 and is courtesy of Best Buy. We've already been quite happy with the service there. I'd be REEAAAALLLLLLYYYYYYY ecstatically happy with them if I won the tv!
However, if you win, I'll be really happy for you too! (grin!)
7.28.2007
Congratulations to Robin!
Wow! Robin over at Robinznest won ALL 4 of my giveaway prizes! I guess it pays to find some obscure giveaway that no one else notices! LOL! Congrats, Robin!
Maybe the next time Shannon hosts the big giveaway carnival, I'll get in a little sooner. In the meantime, Robin gets the distinguished honor of winning the farm, so to speak. I didn't even have to use a random drawing generator or anything. No little slips of paper in a bucket/hat/pan/basket, etc. Hmmm . . . maybe I won't jump on board the big deal event. Maybe it's just easier to host my own little giveaway for one person. Tee hee!
Congratulations Robin!!!
Sad Late Doggie Giveaway
Well, I just spent most of my evening trying to get pictures taken and my post completed for the amazing Dog Days of Summer Givewaway only to head over to Shannon's place and discover that she's closed the whole Mr. Linky & comments & the contest to any more giveaways. Boo hoo! I certainly understand, but boo hoo anyway!
So . . . I definitely won't have the traffic I'd have had by being linked over at Rocks in My Dryer, but on the chance that there's anyone at all reading my blog and that person (or two) might be interested in this stuff (since I went to the trouble and all), I'm still posting mine. I'll just call my giveaway something else. The Sad, Late Doggie Giveaway.
On a happy note, chances of very many people entering for these items are much slimmer now - since I'm not connected via the BIG contest. So . . . if you want any of them, your odds are probably really good! Since I'm a little late getting this post up and my reader base isn't all that large, I'll keep this open until 10:00 p.m. MST Saturday, July 29th to enter.
And since Shannon started all of this, you can still pop on over to Dog Days of Summer Givewaway and enter to win giveaways posted by 506 bloggers!!! Holy cow!! Can you believe it?!?!? I hope you win something!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Yikes - I am SO behind on getting this post up. I think it has to do with orchestrating a surprise for my sister's 40th birthday* that took place yesterday. It kind of occupied the first part of my week.

* there will be more to follow on this one - it was pretty tricky, given that she's been a collaborator in three other birthday surprises over the past few years! But Mom & I pulled it off! Complete with a flock of pink flamingos which flew in and roosted all over her front yard!

So, without further adieu, here are my FOUR DIFFERENT PACKAGES to give away!

Package #1:

"Basket of Blossoms" Stampin' Up! rubber stamp set (in original box) with an assortment of cardstock (see photo below).

Package #2:

"Wonderful Woodcuts" Stampin' Up! rubber stamp set (in original box) with an assortment of cardstock (see photo below).

Package #3:

"Delightful Doodles" Stampin' Up! rubber stamp set (in original box) with an assortment of cardstock (see photo below).

Cardstock Assortment - included with each package above

The photo did a terrible job with the colors. There are neutral colors (white, ivory, confetti, etc.), amethyst, green, blues, and pink pieces of cardstock &/or cards. There are also some envelopes and a pre-stamped piece. I will also include a few embellishments (ribbon, eyelets, etc.)

As to the stamp sets & supplies - I was a demonstrator with Stampin' Up! for 8 years (plus an avid stamper for an addition 3-4 years on either side of that). I'm extremely anal particular when it comes to mounting my stamps, so they're all trimmed nice and close to the image. The blocks have also been sprayed with clear acrylic before the stamps were mounted.

Package #4:

Microsoft Picture It! Version 10 - The CD & manual are both in excellent condition. I purchased it brand new, used it a few times and never even loaded it onto my next computer. I have since purchased Photoshop Elements, so I'd like to share this with someone else.

Please indicate in your post which package(s) you're interested in. As Barb mentioned in her Dog Days post, "And remember, if your comment leads me to a dead end, you're not really entered. 'kay?"

Note: due to shipping costs, this is only open to residents of the U.S.

Dog Days of Summer

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Okay, this little button is just so darned cute, I HAD to join in all the fun! Besides, I've been cleaning out the family room - specifically as it relates to loads and loads (as in really a lot) of stamping/scrapping/paper crafts supplies. I'm not sure exactly what I'll give away yet, but I'll nail it down by Monday.

In the meantime, click on the sweet little doggy and find out more, join in, or just see what's going on at Shannon's place. BTW, she was recently in Colorado and you have got to see her pix. I really need to get out more in my own state. It's so beautiful!

Moms & July 4th Giveaways

If you're a mom, be sure to check out 5 Minutes for Mom. These ladies have a plethora of good information, encouragement, tips, humor, great things to buy, and so on.

July-4-button-160pix.jpg

Another thing they do is give away terrific stuff! Nearly all the time. This time it's to celebrate the 4th of July. So be sure to check out their site (bring a cup of coffee or tea, there's a lot there!) and you might find a giveaway (or two) you're interested in.

Oh, speaking of giving away stuff, I won a book from them this morning! They've started a new column about scrapbooking. The woman who's writing that one has a book called, Real Women Scrap and I won one of five autographed copies! Woo hoo!! That's a fun email to find first thing in the a.m.
