American Kestrel
Ditto
Western Tanager (thank you, Pi Guy!)
Virginia's Warbler
Wilson's Warbler
No worries - this bird is being released, it's not dead.
Now, when the bird banding guy gets excited, you know it must be a big deal. He said he only sees the Blackpoll Warbler about once every ten years. And he's been doing this for a very long time.
You can see more WW photos here, here, and here.

What fantastic pictures each one of them !!!
One certainly doesn't get to see these species this side of the globe !!
So lovely...yet, I'm so afraid for them because they look so frail. Happy WW!
These are all so amazing... to be that up close to all those exquisite birds - and to capture them on film so beautifully. Wow. Thanks for sharing these.
Can't chose my best here. Every photos are wonderfully framed.Amazing shots!
I got to watch a guy band birds at Chincoteague Island last summer. It was fascinating. The entire process...but especially the way the birds got weighed: head first into an empty toilet paper roll and put on the scale. You can see posts of that in my 2007 blog archives...September, I think. Happy WW!
Wonderful photos!!!
Happy WW!!

How I WOULD LOVE to have joined you in this endeavor. So enchanted by these little feathered creatures.
I see many kestrels in our valley - but never the other little birds. What a delight.

Amazing! I was privileged to see biologists banding birds years ago in West Texas. I would love to do that again.
That first picture looks like the bird is kissing his nose! :)
cool birds, Bunny! I bet that was a neat experience to see them all up close.
That was a neat experience. Glad you got pictures to share. :)
Thank you for your sweet comment on my graduation post. I really appreciate it!

Very cool! We have been seeing lots of baby birds around here starting to leave their nests. I just wish I was better at figuring out what kind of birds they are!
