Friday's Feast #193

Appetizer

Do you consider yourself to be an optimist or a pessimist?

Yes.

Soup

What is your favorite color of ink to write with?

It's really a mood thing. Most likely blue, purple, or black. In that order. Occasionally pink or green, maybe red. But mostly my three go-to colors. And more specifically - I'm a fine point kind of gal. Mostly. I'm really ticked off at the pen manufacturers, however, for packaging medium point pens and promoting them as fine point. NO. THEY. ARE. NOT. 0.7 is medium, not fine. 1.0 is not medium - it's big, thick, and fat! 0.5 is fine. 0.3 is extra fine. How hard is that to understand?

Isn't that just like our society? Change the name for the appeasement of . . . I don't know who, in this case. It's just stupid. What the does the pen industry have against lovers of fine-tipped pens? Don't they know that we have a thing for pens and we help keep them afloat? And why don't they call me and invite me to be on a consumer panel? Then I could tell them the right way to package and market their pens.

How often do you get a manicure or pedicure? Do you do them yourself or go to a salon and pay for them?

Okay, off the soap box. I do this myself. If I do it at all. I'm too cheap to pay someone for something I can do myself. And I don't want to take the time. Although they do a much nicer job than I do. I hardly ever wear fingernail polish anymore. I just do my toes in the summer to sort of camouflage my fairly ugly feet. Maybe "ugly" is too strong a word, but I definitely do NOT have pretty and lovely feet that look nice in sandals. So I disguise them with bright polish. Then you can overlook their lack of beauty.

Main Course

Have you ever won anything online? If so, what was it?

Why, yes, I have! All in blogland. At least three books, a $25 gift card, a Shane & Shane CD. That's all that comes to mind at the moment. If I left something off, I am ever so sorry.

Dessert

In which room in your house do you keep your home computer?

The family desktop resides in our living room. We are adamant about the computer being in a public, visible location. The laptop hangs out wherever - the kitchen, living room, or bedroom. But that's under adult (or cat) supervision.

Friday's Feast - #186

I have plenty to blog about, but no time to do it at the moment. So a little Friday Feast seems to be in order.

Appetizer
Invent a new flower; give it a name and describe it.
Ooooh . . . I'm not really good at coming up with new words. I usually prefer to chop up modify existing words. So, how about a Honey Lip Lilac? The color variety of tulips combined with a honey-lilac scent. Yeah, sort of lame, but I just don't feel very floraly creative this morning.

Soup
Name someone whom you think has a wonderful voice.

Mac Powell of Third Day

Salad
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how clean do you keep your car?
Hmmm . . . probably between 5-6. Two boys in the back (and requisite friends) can make for some interesting finds.

Main Course
How do you feel about poetry?
I really enjoy poetry, but don't partake of it often. While I like the various styles of poetry, I've always had an affinity for limericks. Does that make me shallow?

Dessert
What was the last person/place/thing you took a picture of?
This is the easiest question. We've had some snow recently and yesterday was pretty gloomy. But today is sunny and 50's. Snow & morning sunshines makes for a perfect photo combo. So I was out in my sweats, getting wet sitting on the ground, frozen fingered, taking shots of various snow covered and capped things. Grass, trees, plants, mailbox, etc. A majority of my photos are on film, so I'll get them developed and post more later. In the meantime, here are a couple from my little digital. They're not great - I think those with my SLR will turn out much better.

My neighbor's snow capped flower heads

Hmm - would've been better if the sun shone on it (I think)

Friday's Feast - Number 155

Appetizer
What is your favorite kind of pie? Key Lime

Soup
Name something that made you smile this week. My 3-year old neice explaining that she's herself in this way, "Look at me. I have this hair!" There you go, what further explanation does one need?

Salad
What do you do to cool off when the weather is hot and humid? I don't know - I've never really been where it's humid. Hot, yes. I seek out air conditioning. Or I grab a mister and spray myself. Definitely get my big old hair up and off my neck - it's the equivalent of wearing a wool scarf, double wrapped.

Main Course
You receive $1,000 in the mail with a letter that says you can only use the money to redecorate one room in your home. Which room do you pick, and what do you buy to spruce it up? The kitchen/dining room. First and foremost, remove the 70's ORANGE & GREEN wallpaper! Paint the walls a pale off-white. Replace the dark brown tile on the kitchen counters with white tile and a red & white checkered backsplash. New curtains (red & white, of course). Then I could pull out all my red & white cherry decor that's been sadly camouflaged here. Lastly, replace the brown lino with something in the red & white theme. Naturally, we're going to get fantastic deals (hubby knows people) for all that I have going on here with a mere $1,000!! :D

Dessert
Fill in the blank: My alarm clock says "Get out of bed!" but I hide it under hubby's pillow until it shuts up (he's in the shower, not laying on the pillow) so I can doze off again.

Oops, I forgot to include a link so you can enjoy other feasts! Go here to see what others have to offer!

Friday's Feast

I was over at Second Cup of Coffee and she dug up an old Friday's Feast since the chef is out. Since I've thought it would be fun to play, I'll just tag onto Linda's feast choice.

Appetizer
What is a word that your family uses that would not be considered common?

Chippy - My oldest son came up with that word for all really old cars (like stuff from the 20's). The word stuck. A number of years back, we were downtown at a parade and we kept referring to all the Chippies coming down the street. The young boy seated next to us looked at us like we were aliens or something. It was one of those "there is no Santa Claus" moments as I had to explain to the boys that Chippy was just our own family word.

Soup
What theme of calendar do you have on your wall this year?

Depends upon the wall. Between the kitchen & dining room is a small retro designed pocket calendar. It's really cute, but the biggest reason for its purchase is that it fits in the little 9-10" wide space. Next to my desk is a Chick-Fil-A cow calendar with its great cow humor and CFA coupons. In the bedroom is a Curves calendar upon which I put little stickers to track how often I exercise.

Salad
Name 3 people you speak with on a daily basis.

My mom, my sister, and Jenny (people outside of those living in my house).

Main Course
If you could put a new tattoo on someone you know - who would it be, what would the tattoo be of, and where would you put it on them?

My husband, his choice, on his calf.

He's been wanting a tattoo for a couple of years now. First he wanted a Scruffy Smiley (it's a Jeep thing), but I was afraid it would look too much like a WalMart smiley and I didn't want people thinking he was refering to WM with his tattoo. So he's come up with a couple of other ideas. I guess when we get around to getting one for him, he'll have to narrow it down to one.

Dessert
What is the last beverage you drank out of a glass bottle?

Pomegranate Peach Passion White Tea by POM. It actually comes in a glass glass, not a glass bottle.
