Missing

It's been going on for a number of years now. You've probably heard or read it via some sort of news media, but it hasn't always been this way.

So and so went missing late last night.

Could someone please explain to me how it is that people GO missing? Did someone get up one day and decide to GO missing? I don't think so. It's usually very much against his or her will. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that the news used to report that someone had disappeared. Although as I write this, that doesn't seem right, either. It's not as if the missing person became Casper the Friendly Ghost.

I understand the alleged logic behind certain phrases and wording (usually it's a PC issue), but this one escapes me. Why will they not just say that someone IS missing? Am I the only one who's bothered by this phrase?

A Post and Cookies

It has been bugging me that I've become so neglectful of this poor little blog. While I've never had a huge following, I had a nice little readership for awhile. And then I began to only post photos for Wordless Wednesday. Sometimes I have post ideas and sometimes not. I finally started a notebook for those ideas, because it seems that whenever I have a chance to sit down and write, I draw a blank. Not literally, of course. I don't think I could actually draw a blank.

I think today may be one of those rambling, road to nowhere kind of posts. If you like that style, stick around. If that's off-putting for you, feel free to click away to another station, er, blog. Regardless, have a fabulous day!

I'm treating the Comedian and my niece to a surprise lunch at Panda Express today. They both absolutely LOVE that place, but not many others in our family really care to go there. Personally, I think it's a little pricey, but I don't mind eating there. Especially when doing so will bring great joy to a couple of kids.

I also have to get a little recipe book created an put together today. The Girls are having a cookie sampling get together this week. Instead of drawing names, exchanging gifts, and going out to eat, we decided to meet at my house and everyone will bring cookies to share. I collected recipes ahead of time to create a little recipe book for each of the seven participants. While cookie exchanges are nice, you have to bake a LOT OF COOKIES! This way, everyone can taste the various cookies and go home with the recipe to make them at a later time if they want.

Not only have I not been blogging, I've hardly been taking pictures. Maybe I'm sick. Or something. But I can't leave here without a photo. So if you stuck with me, you get to enjoy the zaniness that is my other niece. She's a ham extraordinaire!

ROTFL

Okay, not quite on the floor, but I nearly fell off my chair. Here I sit (and I use that term loosely), wishing I had something to write on my blog. I really, really HATE posting nothing except Wordless Wednesday once a week. I mean, gee whiz, there are zillions of words and thoughts flying around my colander brain every single day, yet none of them escape onto the pages of my blog. And it's been bugging me a lot.

And then I read Heather's post today about bloggers whom she loves. When she mentioned one that she finds HIL.AR.I.OUS, I knew I needed to go there. It turns out that there is the blog of The Other Mama. I think I've been there before, but apparently only in passing. But not today. Not on a day when I need something. Some inspiration. Something uproariously funny.

Misheard song lyrics.

Need I say more?

I think not.

My personal favorites from my own life:

The Doobie Brothers' Black Water - "I like to hiss and funk in Dixieland. Burger Mama, come and take me by the hand." (courtesy of my sister)

The Doobie Brothers' (again) China Grove - "Talkin' 'bout trying to grow . . . "

Five for Fightings' Superman - "I'm more than a man, with forty red sheep."

I'm sure there are more but they slipped out the colander holes. In the meantime, go read Hillary's list. Then read the comments. ALL of them. To be fair, though, no drinking or eating whilst reading. You may want to stop for a potty break right now. Or be sorry. But don't say I didn't warn you.

May you fall out of your chair with laughter!
