Here Kitty, Kitty!

My youngest son had been begging to get a cat. Ironically, even as a 12-year old boy, he wanted a girl cat. A grown cat. Not a squirrely little kitten. He wanted a cat something terrible. So hubs & I had decided to get him one for Christmas. We would wrap a kitty toy and include a "certificate" with which he could go choose his new feline friend after Christmas.

My mom and dad were going to purchase a cat post for the kitty for Christmas. So Mom headed on over to the local PetSmart, only to discover that there were WAY TOO MANY cats waiting to be adopted. Considering that her sweet kitty passed away a number of years ago, and she's been wanting a cat ever since, and there was a perfect cat there . . . well, you can probably figure out the rest of THAT story.

We went over to Mom & Dad's to visit the new kitty, Savannah. She was a very nice, 2-year old tortoise shell cat. My son really couldn't wait to get a cat now. In fact, he had already indicated he'd give up ALL of his Christmas gifts if he could just get a cat.

The next morning, Mom calls to say that they can't keep the cat. Looks like both Mom & Dad were suffering from cat allergies. They sure liked her, but didn't think it would work out so well. Once again, you can probably figure out the rest of THAT story, as well.

Yep, we got ourselves a cat. We used to have a couple of cats, but both of them died over 8 years ago. Since then, it was just the four of us and our dog, Cody. Then we lost Cody back in August, so we've had a petless household. We had been planning to get another dog and possibly a cat. Looks like the cat portion happened - with very little effort on our part.

Welcome, Miss Savannah.

I did check with my son to find out what Savannah was reading. Turns out it was Hang the Cowdog. Who'd have thought? She likes dog books! :D

Aarggh . . . it's HANK the Cowdog, not Hang. Darned fingers of mine.

She's really beautiful and has so much character in her face!!! I have 2 cats and they will be my last. I am enjoying them, but I just can't deal with the mess anymore.

Congrats and enjoy!
